The Wichita region Transportation Systems Management & Operations (TSMO) plan outlines how to increase transportation agency collaboration using the TSMO toolbox.

The Beeline and the Amtrak bus connection to Oklahoma City and Newton are now operating out of the Wichita Transit Center at 214 S. Topeka. Routes include Wichita to Salina, Wichita to Joplin, Missouri, and Oklahoma City to Newton (with some stops en route).

I-135 Ramp Repair


I-135 northbound right lane and entrance ramp to close Monday
Start date: March 18, 2024
Completion: Late September of 2024
Prime contractor: Reece Construction, Wichita KS 
Scope of work: NB I-135 entrance from E 85th St N. will have the ramp closed, and NB I-135 between 77th Street and 101st Street will have the lane closure due to bridge construction work.

U.S. 54 to I-135 Closure


Eastbound U.S. 54 to I-135 northbound ramp to close
Start date: July 15,2024
Completion: September 2024
Contract amount: $1,348,537.60
Prime contractor: Wildcat Construction
Scope of work: The project will involve milling, patching and a concrete overlay being placed on each side
consecutively.
Special notes: Work on this bridge is one of a four bridge rehabilitation projects scheduled this year at the I-135/U.S. 54 interchange. The bridge work will take place consecutively. This second project is set to conclude in September.

Keep Right, Pass Left. A Kansas law requires that drivers on roadways outside of cities, with two or more lanes in the same direction, must drive in the right lane unless they are making a left turn or passing another vehicle (fine is $60 + court costs).
