Project Description
KDOT has determined that improvements may be needed along the K-5 corridor in Leavenworth and Wyandotte counties. This project is currently in the discovery phase to evaluate K-5, from I-435 in Wyandotte County to K-7/U.S. 73 in Leavenworth County, and the I-435/K-5/Wolcott Drive interchange.Project Goals
KDOT will identify the best interim and long-term solutions for the corridor and recommend initial concepts for consideration as a preferred design alternative.
With engineering data and input from stakeholders, KDOT has identified general project goals, including:
- Address safety concerns
- Improve traffic access and travel times
- Support area growth and development
- Deliver a cost-effective solution
