Local Transportation Safety Planning

One of the Drive To Zero (DTZ) Plan’s strategies is to provide technical and funding support to local agencies to implement and coordinate recommendations from previous safety planning efforts. Below is a list of multiple transportation safety planning activities that may have already been conducted in your community.

Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A)

Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) is a federal discretionary grant program that funds regional, local, and Tribal initiatives through grants to prevent roadway deaths and serious injuries. State funding is available to cover part of or all of the local match requirement through the Build Kansas Fund. The last year of funding is 2026, and the notice of funding opportunity is expected to be released in early 2026.
