The Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP) is a core Federal-aid program which is managed by State Departments of Transportation. The purpose of HSIP is to achieve a significant reduction in traffic fatalities and serious injuries on all public roads, including non-State-owned roads and roads on tribal land. HSIP requires a data-driven, strategic approach to improve highway safety on all public roads with a focus on performance.
In Kansas, the Bureau of Transportation Safety’s Planning and Engineering Section manages the following HSIP-funded subprograms in coordination with other bureaus, which manage the delivery of these projects.
