KDOT has developed a new KDOT CADD Support Design Software Use Policy to augment the prior software use policy memo (2021) which will require the use of modern OpenX design products (e.g. OpenRoads, OpenBridge, etc.) approved by KDOT on any existing CONNECT Edition KDOT workspace projects. An updated KDOT Connect 10.10 Workspace (10.10.03) is being released to support this change in policy that will remove the version-specific OpenX product restrictions, and includes some updated resources required in newer OpenX products.
The policy document and supporting minor workspace update will both be available for download via KDOT's KART website by Monday, November 10th, 2025. The workspace can immediately be used on existing 10.10 KDOT CONNECT Edition workspace projects; however, the policy and expected use of the newer OpenX products will start one month afterward on December 10th, 2025. This should allow our consultant partners time to update their implementations of our workspace and install the required applications within their organizations. The initial targeted OpenX product version will be the latest 2023 release with plans for certification testing of, and migration to, newer releases as time allows.
It is our hope that along with increased stability, access to new enhancements, and increased security of running supported software, this policy change will allow us to be more agile in our adoption of new versions and reduce the amount of overhead from maintaining multiple matching workspaces with each adopted version release.
Please review the policy for information on KDOT project requirements for using Bentley CONNECT Edition software products with KDOT's CONNECT Edition workspace environment in preparing plans and digital deliverables for improvement projects.
