GIS Data Download Instructions

 

If you’d like to download LiDAR GIS data extracts for use in ArcGIS (or compatible) desktop applications and you do not have a KanPlan account ,
  1. 1. Go to the KanPlan Web Map overview page for all layers or the specific layer of your choice:
    1. a. All layers
    2. b. Approaches
    3. c. Gore points
    4. d. Guardrails
    5. e. Intersections
    6. f. Rumble strips
    7. g. Shoulders - note that this includes both paved and unpaved shoulders
    8. h. Sign Faces
    9. i. Vertical clearances
  2. 2. Select “Open in ArcGIS Desktop”.
  3. 3. For ArcMap users, select “ArcMap”, which will download a file in .pkinfo format that will automatically open in ArcMap.
  4. 4. For ArcPro users, select “ArcPro”, which will download a file in .pitemx format that will automatically open in ArcPro.
  5. 5. Within your selected desktop application, you should be able to work with the data directly or export them to a file (or files) you can save locally.

 

If you’d like to download LiDAR GIS data extracts for use in ArcGIS (or compatible) desktop applications and you have a KanPlan account , you will have more options for the format of the data download.
  1. 1. Be sure to sign into KanPlan first.
    1. a. Go to https://ksdot.maps.arcgis.com/home/index.html.
    2. b. Click on “Sign In” and complete the authentication procedure.
  2. 2. Click on the link below for the feature layer you wish to download:
    1. a. Approaches
    2. b. Gore points
    3. c. Guardrails
    4. d. Intersections
    5. e. Rumble strips
    6. f. Shoulders (paved)
    7. g. Shoulders (unpaved)
    8. h. Sign Faces
    9. i. Vertical clearances
  3. 3. Click on “Export Data” and then select the format of your choice.
  4. 4. Repeat Steps 2 and 3 as needed.
