Southbound I-235, just before West Street, June 9-15, ONGOING. Inside left lane closed for pavement repair from 8 a.m. June 9 to 6 a.m. June 15.
Eastbound/Westbound U.S. 54, between Washington Street and Hillside Street, June 13, ONGOING. Left lane and center lane closures for bridge construction from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Speed limit reduced to 50 mph.
Northbound/Southbound Southeast Blvd., at the K-15 bridge over the canal, June 11-12, ONGOING. Full closure for bridge deck pour from 7 p.m. Thursday, June 11, to 7 a.m. Friday, June 12. Northbound traffic will exit Southeast Blvd. to northbound I-135, take Exit 3B to East Pawnee Street, travel west, and reconnect with Southeast Blvd. Southbound traffic will be detoured south on I-135 to the South Hydraulic Avenue exit, then east on East MacArthur Road, and south on Southeast Blvd. to rejoin K-15.
KDOT Closures
Northbound I-135 to westbound U.S. 54 bridge redeck project. The center of the U.S. 54/I-135 interchange and several associated ramps will be closed to traffic. Signed detours will be in place. Work is scheduled continuously from 7 p.m. Friday, June 12, to 6 a.m. Monday, June 15.
Eastbound K-96, on-ramp from 127th Street to eastbound K-96, May 13, ONGOING. Ramp closed for East Kellogg expansion project. Traffic on 127th Street will not be able to access eastbound K-96 at the 127th Street interchange. Drivers will continue north on 127th Street to the 13th Street interchange to access eastbound K-96. Traffic exiting the Kansas Turnpike at Exit 53A and traveling to eastbound K-96 will continue westbound on K-96 to the 13th Street interchange and then return to eastbound K-96.
Eastbound and westbound U.S. 54, South Meridian Avenue to the Washington Street bridge, May 26. ONGOING. Intermittent lane and ramp closures for pavement marking. Sunday through Thursday nights, lane and ramp closures will be in place from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Traffic control will be removed each morning, and normal traffic will resume during daytime hours.
Westbound U.S. 54, from K-96 to 143rd Street, April 13, ONGOING. Right lane closure for pavement reconstruction as part of the East Kellogg Expansion Project. A 12-foot width restriction will be in place through the work zone. Motorists should allow extra travel time, use alternate routes, and use caution while traveling through the area.
Eastbound U.S. 54, from K-96 to 143rd Street, April 13, ONGOING. Lanes will have a width restriction of 11 feet as part of the East Kellogg Expansion Project.
Northbound I-135, just north of the K-96 exit ramp, ONGOING. Single lane closure (outside lanes closed; inside left lane remains open) for bridge inspection work related to derailment damage.
Northbound/southbound I-135, between Lincoln Street and Douglas Avenue, Feb. 9, 2026 – Sept. 2027, ONGOING. Two left lanes will be closed and a width restriction will be in effect. The width limit is 11 feet and the speed limit will be reduced to 50 mph. Construction is scheduled to begin Monday, Feb. 9, 2026, and continue through September 2027.
Northbound I-135, ramp to U.S. 54 westbound, Wichita, Jan. 5, 2026 – Sep. 2027, ONGOING. Ramp closed for bridge construction at the I-135 and U.S. 54 interchange.
Southbound I‑135 ramp, from 29th Street, ONGOING. Closed for extended reconstruction as part of the North Junction Gold Project, Phase 2B.
