The center of the U.S. 54/I-135 interchange as well as several associated ramps will close beginning at 7 p.m. Friday, June 12, according to the Kansas Department of Transportation. The Wichita interchange closures are related to the northbound I-135 to westbound U.S. 54 bridge redeck project. The interchange and ramps are expected to open early on Monday, June 15.
The center of the interchange will be closed to traffic, including northbound and southbound I-135 and eastbound and westbound U.S. 54 movements through the interchange. Traffic will be directed to use open ramps and alternate movements within the interchange area.

Motorists are encouraged to avoid the interchange and use appropriate alternative routes.
Motorists may encounter signed detours within the interchange area due to multiple ramp closures. Alternate routes such as I-235 or K-96 may provide additional options to bypass the construction area.
Work is anticipated to be completed at 6 a.m. Monday, June 15, conditions permitting. Motorists should plan for extra travel time, follow posted detour signs, and use alternate routes. Please exercise caution while traveling through the area.
