Pedestrian projects to begin in Halstead
The Kansas Department of Transportation is assisting the city of Halstead with a pedestrian and bicycle path construction project this spring.
The project will be along 6th Street from West Street to Pine Street, on Chestnut Street from 10th Street to 5th Street and on 10th Street from Chestnut Street to Main Street, for a total distance of 1.5 miles.
The sidewalks will be installed on the north side of the east-west streets (the numbered streets) and on the west side of the north-south streets (the named streets). Motorists should be prepared for brief delays and single lane closures closest to the sidewalk installation.
Work will begin in early April, conditions permitting. Work will occur Monday through Friday during daylight hours.
PSE Contractors LLC., of Wichita, is the contractor on this $528,627.90 project, which is expected to be completed by the end of June.
KDOT urges motorists to stay alert and follow posted signs in all work zones. For current road conditions, visit kandrive.gov or call 511. For updates on construction projects in South Central Kansas, visit ksdot.gov/southcentralnews.
