Resurfacing project to begin on K-99 north of Emporia
Resurfacing work is scheduled to begin Monday, March 30, on K-99 in Lyon County. The Kansas Department of Transportation’s mill and overlay project will cover 11 miles of K-99, beginning north of Emporia at the I-35 junction and proceeding northward to K-170.
Traffic will be restricted to one lane and directed by a pilot car and flaggers where crews are actively working. Drivers should plan for delays of up to 15 minutes.
A 12-foot width restriction will also be in place through the work zone.
Work will occur during daylight hours Monday through Friday, and Saturdays as needed.
Pearson Construction LLC, of Wichita, is the primary contractor on the $2 million project, which is expected to be complete by late May.
All project work and traffic changes are conditions permitting and subject to change.
KDOT urges motorists to stay alert and follow posted signs in all work zones. For current road conditions, visit KanDrive.gov or call 511. For updates on highway projects in northeast Kansas, visit ksdot.gov/NortheastNews.
