Resurfacing to begin March 30 on U.S. 77 in Geary County
The Kansas Department of Transportation plans to begin a resurfacing project on U.S. 77 in Geary County on Monday, March 30.
The project will involve a mill and overlay, striping, rumble strips and edge wedge work. Construction will take place on U.S. 77 from the Geary/Riley county line, extending south approximately 16 miles, to the I-70/U.S. 77 junction in Junction City.
Motorists should expect one lane traffic at a reduced speed for work inside Junction City. Traffic outside the city limits will be reduced to one lane controlled by a pilot car. Motorists should anticipate delays of up to 15 minutes.
Shilling Construction Co. Inc., of Manhattan, is the prime contractor for the $5 million project, which is scheduled to be completed in August, weather permitting.
KDOT urges motorists to stay alert and follow posted signs in all work zones. For current road conditions, visit kandrive.gov or call 5-1-1. Updates on highway projects in north central Kansas, are available at NewsReleases/District2- north central Kansas.
