Post Date:04/06/2026 8:00 AM

A railroad bridge crossing U.S. 166/U.S. 169 in Coffeyville will undergo repairs and improvements over four upcoming weekends, requiring the highway to be closed, according to the Kansas Department of Transportation.

The South Kansas and Oklahoma Railroad will begin making repairs and improvements starting Friday morning, April 10. The highway under the bridge will then be closed until Monday morning, April 13. Conditions permitting, the repairs will continue over the next three weekends, following the same Friday to Monday morning schedule and ending on Monday, May 4.

The official 46-mile detour, depending on the direction traveled, follows U.S. 166, U.S. 75, U.S. 160 and U.S. 169. KDOT uses state highways for official detour routes for safety, weight and maintenance concerns.
