KDOT to Host ‘Drive To Zero Day’ at the Capitol

The Kansas Department of Transportation’s Bureau of Transportation Safety will host the Drive To Zero Day at the Capitol on Wednesday, March 11. This event brings together state leaders and safety advocates to highlight the "Drive To Zero" initiative, which aims to eliminate traffic fatalities and serious injuries on Kansas roads through the "Safe System" approach. 

WHAT: A public event and news conference featuring state agency leaders and legislators to discuss safe driving behaviors and initiatives.

  • Calvin Reed, Secretary, Kansas Department of Transportation 

  • Janet Stanek, Secretary, Kansas Department of Health and Environment 

  • Captain Matt Payne, Kansas Highway Patrol 

  • Rep. Shannon Francis, Chairman, Kansas House Transportation Committee 

 WHEN: Wednesday, March 11, 2026 

  • 9:00 a.m. – Event begins  

  • 9:30 a.m. – News conference (Key remarks from officials) 

  • 10:15 a.m. – Open house/Networking with Drive To Zero Coalition members  

  • Noon – Event adjourns
