Northbound I-135 and connecting ramps closures in Wichita rescheduled to Nov. 1-2
The Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) has rescheduled the closure of northbound I-135 in Wichita due to forecasted rainfall. Northbound I-135 was scheduled to close this weekend, Oct. 25-26, and will now be closed from 6 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 1, until late afternoon on Sunday, Nov. 2. This closure is part of the Junction Gold Project, Phase 2B.
The closure is necessary to remove formwork and overhang brackets from the newly poured flyover bridge structure.
The southbound I-135 ramp to eastbound K-96 and the westbound K-96 exit ramp to North Hydraulic Avenue will also be closed during this time.
During the closure, northbound I-135 traffic will be detoured to westbound K-96, then to the Hillside Avenue exit. From Hillside Avenue, motorists can use the eastbound K-96 on-ramp to rejoin northbound I-135.
Drivers traveling southbound on I-135 who need to access eastbound K-96 should exit at North Hydraulic Avenue, continue north on Hydraulic Avenue, and use the on-ramp to eastbound K-96.
Motorists should allow extra travel time to follow the posted detour or alternate routes that are not marked.
