Railroad crossing work at Durham to close K-15

Post Date:10/02/2025 10:50 AM

Beginning Saturday, Oct. 4, Union Pacific Railroad plans to close a portion of K-15 in Marion County for emergency repair of the railroad crossing at Durham.

The crossing is expected to close to traffic at 7 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 4 and reopen at 5 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 5, conditions permitting.

Through traffic on K-15 can follow the signed state detour via K-4, U.S. 77/U.S. 56 and U.S. 56 during the closure. (See attached map.)

KDOT uses state highways for official detour routes due to safety, weight limits and maintenance concerns.

KDOT urges motorists to stay alert and follow posted signs in all work zones. For current road conditions, visit kandrive.gov or call 5-1-1. For updates on highway projects in north central Kansas, visit ksdot.gov/northcentralnews.
