U.S. 56 resurfacing starting this week in Marion County
The Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) is beginning resurfacing work this week on U.S. 56 in Marion County.
Project work will consist of a mill and overlay on about 8.5 miles of U.S. 56 from the McPherson and Marion county line to the east K-15 junction in Marion County. (See attached map.)
During construction, flaggers and a pilot car will be used to guide one lane of traffic through construction at a reduced speed. Drivers should be prepared for a delay of up to 15 minutes and plan extra time in their travel schedules.
APAC-Kansas Inc., of Hutchinson, is the prime contractor for this $2.1 million project, which is scheduled to be completed in November, weather permitting.
KDOT urges motorists to stay alert and follow posted signs in all work zones. For current road conditions, visit kandrive.gov or call 5-1-1. For updates on highway projects in north central Kansas, visit ksdot.gov/northcentralnews.
