U.S. 54 to switch to one lane each way in Pratt County Oct. 13
The Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) is scheduled to reduce U.S. 54 to one lane each way in Pratt County beginning Monday, Oct. 13, for concrete patching work. Crews will be working on approximately 8 miles of roadway starting near the Ninnescah River bridge and ending at the Pratt/Kingman county line.
The project is designed to improve the driving surface and reduce overall deterioration of the roadway.
Traffic will be directed through the work zone by signage and a reduced speed limit will be in effect. Drivers are reminded to slow down and use caution while traveling through the construction area.
KDOT expects to finish the work by the spring of 2026, conditions permitting.
The lead contractor on the $1.7 million project is Iowa Civil Contracting of Victor, Iowa. For current road conditions, visit kandrive.gov or call 511. For updates on construction projects in south central Kansas, visit ksdot.gov/southcentralnews.
