Post Date:09/18/2025 2:08 PM
Work on the Kansas Department of Transportation’s Polk-Quincy Viaduct project in Topeka will require a temporary closure on a section of south Topeka Boulevard.
Conditions permitting, the single northbound lane of Topeka Boulevard between 1st and 3rd streets will be closed tomorrow, Sept. 19, from approximately 7 to 10 p.m. while crews install a storm sewer pipe.
Northbound traffic will not have access to the westbound I-70 on-ramp while the closure is in place. There will be no posted detours and motorists will need to use alternate routes.
The single southbound lane of Topeka Boulevard will not be impacted. Traffic coming from north Topeka will be able to cross the Kansas River bridge and access the on-ramp to westbound I-70.
KDOT urges motorists to stay alert and follow posted signs in all work zones. For current road conditions, visit KanDrive.gov or call 511. For updates on highway projects in northeast Kansas, visit ksdot.gov/NortheastNews.
