The Kansas Department of Transportation will host an informational public open house for the I-35/Gardner Road Bridge Replacement Project on Thursday, Sept. 25. Members of the public and media are invited to join the open house anytime between 5:00 and 7:00 p.m. at the Gardner Senior Community Center at 128 E. Park Street, Gardner, KS 66030.
The project is scheduled to be constructed in phases and is expected to be completed in November 2027. Construction work began Sept. 8 and includes replacement of the Gardner Road bridge over I-35, with turn lanes, shoulders, lighting improvements and pedestrian facilities, an additional lane on the southbound I-35 to Gardner Road exit ramp, pavement improvements and realignment of 191st Street east of Gardner Road.
At the open house, attendees can learn about the project background, traffic impacts during construction and the project schedule. Project team members will be available to answer questions. There will not be a formal presentation.
For those unable to attend the in-person meeting, meeting materials displayed will be available on the project webpage at ksdot.gov/I35-Gardner-Bridge. Interested parties can view these meeting materials at their convenience and share questions and comments through an online form that goes directly to the project team. The meeting content and opportunity to provide public comment online will be available from Sept. 26 to Oct. 9.
Anyone requiring language translation, special assistance or accommodations to attend the meeting should contact Ames Howard at (785) 296-8368 or KDOT.engagement@ks.gov.
