Post Date:08/27/2025 1:00 PM

Aug. 29, 2025 – PLEASE NOTE: Traffic changes on the eastbound U.S. 24 on- and off-ramps at northbound K-4/Calhoun Bluff Road will not begin on Tuesday, Sept. 2. The changes will be rescheduled and announced at a later date.

Original release below.

Traffic changes are expected to begin this week in areas of the Kansas Department of Transportation’s U.S. 24 reconstruction project in Shawnee and Jefferson counties.

On Friday, Aug. 29, Wilson Road in Grantville will close for approximately two weeks while crews work on U.S. 24 at the intersection. Motorists will be directed to Barton Road, which will temporarily reopen during the closure.

Beginning Tuesday, Sept. 2, the on-ramp to eastbound U.S. 24 at the K-4/Calhoun Bluff Road junction will reopen to traffic. Crews will then close the eastbound U.S. 24 exit ramp to northbound K-4. The exit is expected to remain closed until late December.

During the closure, motorists can follow the marked detour north on Topeka Boulevard and east on N.E. 46th Street, or use alternate routes that are not marked.

The eastbound U.S. 24 ramps to and from K-4/Oakland Expressway that were previously closed in March will remain closed until December.

All project work and traffic changes are conditions permitting.
