The Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) will begin a culvert project at the intersection of K-7 and Star Valley Road, after the Labor Day holiday.
Preparatory work surrounding the intersection is expected to last from Sept. 2 to Sept. 14. After that, K-7 highway will be closed at the intersection beginning Sept. 15. The highway will be reopened by the end of September, conditions permitting.
This project will repair the drainage beneath the surface of K-7 and that of Star Valley Road for smoother traffic movement. The $578,529 project has been awarded to Heck & Wicker Inc., of Parsons.
KDOT urges motorists to stay alert and follow posted signs in all work zones. For current road conditions, visit kandrive.gov or call 511. For updates on construction projects in Southeast Kansas, visit ksdot.gov/projects/southeast-kansas-projects.
