Overnight pavement marking projects start tonight in Johnson County
Kansas Department of Transportation pavement marking projects begin tonight, Monday, Aug. 4, on I-435 and U.S. 69 in Johnson County, conditions permitting.
The projects include pavement marking on I-435 lanes and adjacent ramps, between Renner Boulevard and Metcalf Avenue, and on U.S. 69 lanes, between I-35 and 103rd Street.
Nightly lane closures will be scheduled, with intermittent and full ramp closures at the following I-435 interchanges: Renner Boulevard, K-10, Lackman Road, I-35, Pflumm Road, Quivira Road, U.S. 69, Antioch Road and Metcalf Avenue.
To minimize traffic impacts, project work is scheduled overnight, Monday through Saturday, beginning at 7 p.m. nightly. Traffic will be controlled using lane and ramp closures, changeable message boards, signs, traffic cones and barricades. Message boards have been placed in the area to alert motorists of upcoming closures.
Heartland Traffic Services, of Kansas City, is the contractor for the tied projects with a total cost of $2.7 million. Project work is expected to be completed in mid-October.
KDOT urges motorists to stay alert and follow posted signs in all work zones. For current road conditions, visit KanDrive.gov or call 511. For updates on highway projects in northeast Kansas, visit NewsReleases/District1-NortheastKansas.
