Post Date:08/04/2025 3:07 PM
Traffic changes will begin tomorrow, Aug. 5, on the Kansas Department of Transportation’s U.S. 24 reconstruction project in north Topeka.
Starting tomorrow at approximately 6 a.m., the right lane of westbound U.S. 24 will be closed between Kansas Avenue and Topeka Boulevard. Access to and from Kansas Avenue and Topeka Boulevard will be maintained. The lane closure will be in place until the morning of Thursday, Aug.7, while a pipe is installed along the roadway.
Upon completion, the inside lanes of eastbound and westbound U.S. 24 in the same area will close to allow pavement replacement work to begin. Access to and from Kansas Avenue and Topeka Boulevard will be maintained, however left-turning movements from U.S. 24 to Kansas Avenue will be closed.
The inside lanes are expected to be closed for approximately 6 weeks. The outside lanes of U.S. 24 will then close for pavement replacement work. Traffic information will be provided in advance.
All project work and traffic changes are conditions permitting.
KDOT urges motorists to stay alert and follow posted signs in all work zones. For current road conditions, visit KanDrive.gov or call 511. For updates on highway projects in northeast Kansas, visit ksdot.gov/bureaus/offtransinfo/NENRelese.asp.
