Lyon County roadway project starting next week
A local roadway project on Road F/Americus Road in Lyon County is scheduled to begin the week of Monday, Aug. 4, conditions permitting. The project includes grading work, adding rock shoulders and flattening ditch slopes between the northern city limit of Americus and U.S. 56.
Work will take place Monday through Friday during daytime hours. Traffic will be restricted to one lane and directed by a pilot car and flaggers when crews are working. Drivers should plan for delays of up to 15 minutes.
A 12-foot width restriction will also be in effect.
Ebert Construction Co., of Wamego, is the prime contractor on the $1 million project, which is expected to be complete in December.
A portion of funding for this project was obtained from the Kansas Department of Transportation, which will also oversee the project.
KDOT urges motorists to stay alert and follow posted signs in all work zones. For current road conditions, visit KanDrive.gov or call 511. For updates on highway projects in northeast Kansas, visit ksdot.gov/bureaus/offtransinfo/NENRelese.asp.
