Resurfacing on U.S. 59 in Anderson County to begin in August

Post Date:07/17/2025 12:00 PM

A Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) resurfacing project on U.S. 59 in Anderson County is scheduled to begin the week of August 4.

The project will resurface 15 miles of U.S. 59 using a hot-mix asphalt overlay, beginning at the Allen/Anderson County line north to the U.S. 169/U.S. 59 south junction.

Work is expected to be completed by the end of 2025, conditions permitting.

During work, traffic will be restricted and guided by flaggers and a pilot car. Motorists should be prepared to slow or stop and expect delays of up to 15 minutes.

Bettis Asphalt & Construction, based in Topeka, is the primary contractor for the $3.75 million project.

KDOT urges motorists to stay alert and follow posted signs in all work zones. For current road conditions, visit kandrive.gov or call 511. For updates on construction projects in Southeast Kansas, visit ksdot.gov/projects/southeast-kansas-projects.
