Resurfacing on U.S. 59 to begin in Allen County later this month
A Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) resurfacing project on U.S. 59 in Allen County is scheduled to begin the week of July 21.
The project will resurface U.S. 59 with ultrathin bonded asphalt for just over 21 miles from the Neosho/Allen County line north to the Allen/Anderson County line.
Work is expected to be completed by late September, conditions permitting.
During work, traffic will be restricted and guided by flaggers and a pilot car. Motorists should be prepared to slow or stop and expect delays of up to 15 minutes.
Bettis Asphalt & Construction, based in Topeka, is the primary contractor on the $2.54 million project.
KDOT urges motorists to stay alert and follow posted signs in all work zones. For current road conditions, visit kandrive.gov or call 511. For updates on construction projects in Southeast Kansas, visit ksdot.gov/projects/southeast-kansas-projects.
