Overnight I-435 closures scheduled for July 13 and 14 for bridge work in Overland Park

Overnight full closures are scheduled for eastbound and westbound I-435 and adjacent ramps in Overland Park on Sunday, July 13, and Monday, July 14, conditions permitting. These closures are necessary for girder setting on the northbound U.S. 69/I-435 bridge. This work is part of the Kansas Department of Transportation U.S. 69 Corridor Modernization and Expansion Project (69Express). 

The following lanes and ramps will be fully closed, Sunday, July 13 closures 5 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday, July 14. Eastbound I-435, Quivira Road to Antioch Road. Eastbound I-435 to Antioch Road exit ramp. College Boulevard to northbound U.S. 69 entrance ramp.

The following lanes and ramps will be fully closed, Monday, July 14 closures 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Tuesday, July 15. Westbound I-435, Antioch Road to Quivira Road. Westbound I-435 to southbound U.S. 69 ramp. Westbound I-435 to Quivira Road exit ramp. College Boulevard to northbound U.S. 69 entrance ramp.

Detailed detour information:

  • Eastbound I-435: Continue east to use the southbound U.S. 69 ramp. Travel south on U.S. 69 to exit at 119th Street. Turn left on 119th Street and travel east, then turn left onto the northbound U.S. 69 entrance ramp. Travel north to use the eastbound I-435 ramp.
  • Westbound I-435: Continue west on I-435 to use the northbound U.S. 69 ramp. Travel north on U.S. 69 to exit at 103rd Street. Turn right on 103rd Street and travel west, then turn right onto the southbound U.S. 69 entrance ramp. Travel south and use the westbound I-435 ramp.
  • Eastbound I-435 to northbound U.S. 69: Continue east to use the southbound U.S. 69 ramp. Travel south on U.S. 69 to exit at 119th Street. Turn left on 119th Street and travel east, then turn left onto the northbound U.S. 69 entrance ramp.
  •  Westbound I-435 to southbound U.S. 69: Continue west on I-435 to use the northbound U.S. 69 ramp. Travel north on U.S. 69 to exit at 103rd Street. Turn right on 103rd Street and travel west, then turn right onto the southbound U.S. 69 entrance ramp.

The 69Express project involves the reconstruction of U.S. 69, widening the highway with added express lanes – one in each direction between 151st and 103rd Streets – and interchange improvements at U.S. 69/167th Street in Overland Park.
