Resurfacing underway on U.S. 56/ K-25 in Stevens/Grant counties

Post Date:06/30/2025 11:52 AM

The Kansas Department of Transportation has started multiple highway resurfacing projects along sections of U.S. 56 and K-25. Project locations include, U.S 56/ South Main Street from the K-51 junction in Hugoton north to the K-25 junction, andK-25 from the U.S 56 junction north to the south city limits of Ulysses.

U.S. 56 and K-25 is reduced to one lane in smaller sections as work takes place on the 29-mile project area. Motorists should expect delays of up to 15 minutes as flaggers and a pilot car direct one-lane traffic through the work zone. The lane reduction is marked by signs and cones. Highways will be open to normal traffic when construction is not taking place.

Venture Corporation of Great Bend is the contractor on this $6.1 million project. Conditions permitting, it is expected to be completed by the end of September.

For more information, contact Joel (Simon) Valdez Construction Manager, at 620-417-7706.
