Bridge surveys starting on I-70 in Thomas County
The Kansas Department of Transportation will start field surveys on two bridges along I-70 in Thomas County the week of Jan. 18.
The survey work will be conducted on the North Fork Saline River bridge, located one-half mile southeast of the U.S. 83 junction, and on the South Fork Saline River bridge, located approximately 3.75 miles southeast of the U.S. 83 junction.
Activities will include the use of survey instruments on the ground to determine locations of existing features within the survey corridor. The survey is necessary to gather information for the detailed design of proposed improvements to replace the bridges.
KDOT expects work to be complete by March 12.
Crews will contact property owners or tenants for permission to enter private property if access is needed. Charles Brooksher, field survey project manager, will oversee the surveys for KDOT.
Persons with questions may contact KDOT public affairs manager Lisa Mussman at 785- 874-8107 or lisa.mussman@ks.gov.
